Switzerland is a small yet beautiful country that should be on your bucket list for its amazing nature, lakes, mountains, picturesque villages, world class spas and is home to some amazing architecture, hotels and restaurants with breathtaking views. Here is a list of must see places in Switzerland to add to your bucket list.
Note: This article has been updated since June
1. Blausee
This beautiful turquoise lake is a must visit when in Switzerland. It is a well known tourist thing but it is worth it. Our recommendation is to visit during weekdays and in the early mornings to avoid the crowds. Join our girl getaway and connect with like minded women.
2. Dolder Grand
Another instagrammable spot in Switzerland is the luxury hotel Dolder Grand located in the heart of Zurich. It also has a great spa and restaurant where you can enjoy a nice view over the city. Maybe the coolest fact is that you can take the Dolder Bahn - a red train that takes you directly from city centre to the hotel and back.
Pro tip: If you don't stay at the hotel you can still take a pretty picture from the path towards the golf courts like the one below.
3. Zermatt
An absolute must and one of my favorite places in Switzerland where I always happily return. Zermatt is one of those places that charm you at first sights. The wooden little houses, Matterhorn in background, great food and even better spas make it perfect for a weekend getaway. Read here all about our stay in Zermatt and why you should add Zermatt to your bucket list.
4. Kandersteg
A charming little town that is also near to the famous Oeschiner lake you will feel like Heidi exploring the Alps. Kandersteg was a nice surprise recently while exploring the region, don’t you think? Bonus: It is very close to Blausee so once you are there make sure to visit this place too.
5. Lucerne
Lucerne is world known for its beauty and for a reason. The city centre is connected with beautiful wooden bridges. Even though it is a very popular destination we managed to skip this city for 6 years and we don’t want this to happen to you so we are including it on this list ☺
6. Appenzell
I like this part of Switzerland. Maybe because of the cheese, the cows or the colourful houses. Worth a visit if you are close by!
7. Villa Honegg
This popular luxury boutique hotel became famous because of a spa video that went viral because of the magnificent views. We had the chance to visit the spa last year, just make sure you reserve your entry as much as 6 months in advance or more.
8. Aescher
Do you know about this guesthouse and restaurant secluded in the Mountains? Well according to the National Geographic it is one of 125 must see places in your Lifetime and we agree! Make sure you actually hike up there and reward yourself with some homemade Rösti.
9. Aare Gorge Walk
One of the most impressive places to visit is a man made walk through the Aare canyon called Aareschluht or Aare Gorge Walk. The entrance is only 9 Chf per person and it totally worth it! The canyon is less than 1m narrow at the narrowest point and over 40m at the brightest point.
10. Iseltwald
Iseltwald is one small village at Lake Brienz known for the beautiful building located at the peninsula. Before visitng I was convincend it is a hotel but it turns out it is a private owned house! Now question is who lives there? :)
11. Harder Kulm - Top of Interlaken
Jus a few min walk from the city centre there is a cable car that will take you to 1321m above sea level in 8min and to one of the most impressive views at Top of Interlaken caller Harder Kulm! To the left you will see Brienz Lake and to the right the Lake Thun. If the weather is clear you will see the Top of Europe - Jungfraujoch! Now this is something you do not want to miss :)

Zermatt is the best place I’ve skied with gorgeous views, tranquility, quaint village, and entertaining après ski options!
Crans-Montana, Montreaux, Geneva, Bern, and a spa day at Leukerbad is also places I’d recommend for visitors to go to in Switzerland!
